Piece of history
Before taking part in the competition, let us tell you the story of the early days of Les Menuires.
A major project:
In the mid-1960s, France launched the Snow Plan to respond to the growing popularity of skiing and attract holidaymakers to the mountains. In the Belleville Valley, an ambitious project was taking shape: to create a modern, functional resort designed with the future in mind. Construction began, roads and infrastructure were developed, and Les Menuires was about to write the first pages of a story that would forever shape the destiny of the Bellevillois.
It was during the 1964–1965 winter season that the resort was officially inaugurated. The first visitors discovered a still modest resort, with a few ski lifts and around 450 tourist beds. But the spirit of Les Menuires was already taking shape: an accessible, welcoming resort focused on making skiing available to everyone.
